Aaron:
It was at Clavering Lakes on the 26th August 2009, when I put a ledger out for the fist time on the match lake. I was fishing on the margins by a tree on a hair rig with pellets accompanied by a p.v.a. bag with smaller pellets inside.
After a wait of half an hour I decided to set up my other rod on float, then the bite alarm went off, the line started to become more taught and that’s when I struck my rod. as soon as I struck my rod it started to bend and I know I had a decent sized fish on the end of my line. It took me about 5 minutes to bank this beautiful common carp weighing 4.25lb.
After this things started to go wrong, I forgot I had put the ledger weight on the hook length instead of the main line, this is a mistake I’ll never make again!!
I left the ledgering for the day and went on to floating, which banked me 6 more common carp and a magnificent mirror carp weighing about 3.75lb. I was fishing right on the margins on 1 piece of luncheon meat and a size 8 hook.
There will be more fish to come!
