We started at 06:00 and were ready for the wait. Specimen fishing at Clavering Lakes but we weren’t quite ready for the weather. Baiting out, setting up, all went well, and then the weather just got hotter and hotter! A little interest but nothing was taking the bait. Here’s where you’ve got to be patient I told Aaron.
Well there’s patience and there’s patience then there’s a time that I’m sure every anglers had when he says I’m just not doing this right! As the weather got hotter the wind stopped completely, not a cloud in the sky and well there were plenty of carp in Clavering Lakes, we could see them!! They were on the top.
That’s when we changed tact and went for our favourite floating bait, good old bread flake one a surface float. Now we have had times where we just couldn’t stop catching them on this but today was different … these were clever carp! A couple of very twitchy anglers on the bank! But only one fish for the day – a lovely 7.75 lb common – Andy landed the best fish so far this season.
But it was hard work!
