    6am and it’s windy, well we’re going anyway, it’s not going to be easy but we’re getting to know Clavering Lakes now and we wont miss out on a days fishing no matter what! Lucy (9) decided she wanted to come with us today and no matter how much I tried to dissuade her due to the weather she wasn’t having any of it. I must admit I thought today was going to be a bit difficult … how wrong would I be! …..

    Well it was meant to be raining but how wrong could they be! We started at 06:00 and were ready for the wait. Specimen fishing at Clavering Lakes but we weren’t quite ready for the weather. Baiting out, setting up, all went well, and then the weather just got hotter and hotter! A little interest but nothing was taking the bait. Here’s where you’ve got to be patient I told Aaron ….

    Making my own boilies has intrigued me for a while now so at last I have started my research. My findings surprised me and the amount of different information & views about boilie making was far greater than I had imagined! This entry is just the beginning and my initial findings have proved to me its not quite as easy as I first thought but as the market is literally flooded with brand boilies I think boilie making could be well worth the effort and very satisfying if it works!

    This is a personal one, call it what you will but I think its just got to be said. Why is it that over the past several years the fishing community in general seems to be gearing itself towards carp, the big fish? I see more and more youngsters beginning angling straight into carp fishing spending all their (or their parents) money on carp gear then going straight into well stocked fisheries to catch the biggest carp they can! My question, are they really getting the best of angling? ….
